Shirakot Temple

Shirakot (Malaynath) Temple is a famous temple located in Didihat of Pithoragarh district. This temple is situated at a distance of 2 km away from Didihat. This famous temple is dedicated to Lord Malaynath (Lord Shiva). It is believed that this ancient Sirakot Temple of Lord Malaynath was built by the Raika kings.This area was historically ruled by the Raika king of Sirakot Malla kings. In this temple, the temple of Lord Shiva and Bhairav is built in the inward part.
Every year a fair is held at Sirakot temple during Shivaratri, where a large number of devotees come to the temple for Darshan. The hill on which the temple is situated, from there get to see a spectacular and fascinating view of the Himalaya ranges.

Askot Sanctuary

This beautiful sanctuary which is located about 54 kms from Didihat nestles at a height of 5412 feet above sea level. It is very popular among wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. It is a haven for snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, musk deers, snow cocks, tahra, bharals, chirs, koklas, pheasants and chukors.The lush sanctuary area dotted with temples is also a fine place to view the beauty of the Himalayas.
The sanctuary was primarily the preserving area for musk deer and its habitat, a rare species of deer that live mainly in forested and alpine scrub habitats in the mountains of southern Asia. Apart from this rare species of deer which makes the region famous, other mammals found in this sanctuary include the Bengal tiger, snow tiger, Indian leopard, Himalayan jungle cat.

Dhwaj Temple

Dhwaja Mandir is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Jayanti. It is located near Pithoragarh and is situated at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level. The temple is easily accessible as it is at a short distance from Pithoragarh by road.
At a distance of 20 kilometers from Pithoragarh district, four kilometers from a place called Satraj, “Dhavaj Mandir ” is situated on the summit of the mountain top in the lap of the Himalayas. This place is known as the home of snow leopards and Himalayan black bears. Devotees can visit this temple and enjoy the mesmerizing views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
Many stories are told about the establishment of this temple. One of them is the story that the place was named ‘Dhavaja’ after the name of Shiva, and this name was kept by the ancestors of the ‘Kappadi’ clan. There is also a 50 feet deep cave on this hill.

Jauljibi

Jauljibi is a charming border town located at the scenic confluence of the Kali and Gori Rivers in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand.
